On 20th March 2026, Sathiya Welfare Society held a Community Awareness Campaign on Social Issues and Entitlements in Village Dokya, Gram Panchayat Dehargaon, Betul. A free PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat) enrolment camp was held alongside it. More than 150 community members took part.

Many rural and marginalised families miss out on welfare schemes because they don’t know about them or lack the right documents. The camp set out to change that, by giving villagers information and on-the-spot help in one place.

Getting the community ready

Our team and volunteers went door to door and explained the camp in simple language. They also told families which documents to bring, such as the Aadhaar Card and Samagra ID. We worked closely with Panchayat representatives, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers, and Jagruk Nagrik Manch members helped mobilise people. Pamphlets reached every household, and a public announcement (munadi) covered those we could not meet in person.

What happened in the camp

  • Health: The District Ayushman In-Charge, Mr. Anoop Bihare, explained who is eligible for PM-JAY and the free healthcare it offers. In all, 55 registrations for Ayushman cards were completed, and 50 beneficiaries received their cards.
  • Legal rights: Advocate Ms. Deepika Bhavsar of the District Court spoke about services from the District Legal Services Authority. These include free legal aid for women, children, SC/ST communities and economically weaker sections, and access to Lok Adalat. She shared the Legal Helpline number, 15100, and also encouraged meditation and stress management for mental well-being.
  • Women and children: Ms. Meera Thakur of the Women and Child Development Department explained the schemes available and urged eligible families to enrol.
  • Documents and KYC: Social worker Ms. Deepmala Khatarkar stressed that Aadhaar and Samagra ID are essential for any government scheme. She warned that incorrect or incomplete records can lead to exclusion from benefits.
  • Child marriage: Sessions explained that the legal age of marriage is 18 for girls and 21 for boys. Early marriage can also mean losing access to schemes like PM Matru Vandana Yojana and Ladli Laxmi Yojana.

What we achieved

Villagers now better understand health insurance, legal aid, documentation and the risks of child marriage. The camp also brought service providers and the community closer together.

Camps like this show that when information and services come to the village, people can claim their rights with confidence. Sathiya Welfare Society will keep working with communities in Betul to make that happen.
